Pokémon Go player has already caught 'em all

Filled out the North American collection

Pokémon Go has received its first master: ftb_hodor, a Reddit user who revealed last night that he had completed the North American Pokédex. That includes 142 Pokémon, with nine others proving completely elusive.

In order to finish his collection, ftb_hodor caught 4,269 Pokémon. He also hatched 303 eggs and walked 153 kilometers over the course of his two-week journey. His final catch was Omanyte, which he evolved into Omastar.

The New York City-based trainer, who’s level 31, said that he worked more than 50 hours a week amid all that Pokémon-catching. A popular hotspot of four adjacent PokéStops directly across from Central Park helped him achieve his goal without traveling too far from home, although he did take a trip to New Jersey along the way.

Still missing from his Pokédex are Farfetch’d, Kangaskhan, Mr. Mime, Ditto, Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, Mewtwo and Mew. The latter six are considered to be the rarest Pokémon in the game, with no record of them naturally occurring anywhere worldwide. As for the first three, players suspect they are region-specific. Farfetch’d is reportedly an Asian exclusive, while Kangaskhan is found in Oceanic territories; Mr. Mime is common in Western Europe.

In other words, ftb_hodor better start looking into travel packages. For tips on how to become a Pokémon master without straying far from home, check out our Pokémon Go guide.
